Lucca on foot, by bike or by Segway
The lovely and surprising historic center of Lucca lends itself much more than other cities to a visit by Segway or bike, if you want to try a fun alternative to walking. The city is flat and completely hemmed in by its roughly 4-kilometer long walls.
The itinerary is the same as on foot : we will discover the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini by pedaling or walking on the shady and massive walls, the pride of the city! It is a unique experience with many views of rooftops and tower-houses. We will descent from the walls into the historic center to visit the main sites: the Roman amphitheater, the amazing tree-topped Guinigi tower, the square of San Michele, the city’s 2,200-year-old hub, the Romanesque basilica of San Frediano, the cathedral of San Martino with its multi-colored marble facade and the Renaissance gardens of Palazzo Pfanner.
Free samplings of Lucca’s specialites, such as local extra virgin olive oil, wines, truffles, and salamis, can be included.
- You can do the tour entirely by bike, or half by bike and half on foot.
- You can rent bike seats for children and tandems.
- It is an experience open to anyone with a minimum of physical preparation.
